DRC Delivers Improved Information Access for Provincial Energy Agency from Legacy Microfiche
Toronto, Canada (2009) - DRC has partnered with an Alberta government agency to digitize approximately 1 million microfiche, representing an estimated 30 million images, as part of the agency's digital transformation initiative. The project includes managing the transportation and chain-of-custody process between Alberta and DRC's secure digitization center in Toronto for storage and processing. DRC ensured uninterrupted access for oil industry stakeholders by facilitating the continuous exchange of microfiche and digital content between the organizations.
To support the agency's needs, DRC utilized its secure digitization infrastructure and high-volume microfilm/microfiche conversion capabilities. DRC has developed custom applications for transportation, digitizing, tracking, and production management, plus urgent document request processing, creating a dedicated and efficient conversion platform tailored to the agency's requirements. Collaboration with the agency allowed DRC to carefully schedule library conversions to balance day-to-day access needs with its high production capacity.
